I.               TITLE:    District Technology Specialist - Building Tech Team

 

II.            QUALIFICATIONS:

 

A.            High School Diploma.

B.            College degree is desirable, but not mandatory.

C.            Experience in most or all of these areas:

1.       Apple Macintosh, Windows XP, and Windows 7 operating systems and application software such as Office, Web browsers, e-mail, terminal emulation, etc.

2.       Familiarity with Windows server operating systems including components such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.

3.       Educational software such as Inspiration, Accelerated Reader and Math, etc.

4.       Networking topologies such as switched Ethernet.

5.       Internet.

6.       Networking protocols and software such as TCP/IP.

7.       Installing, troubleshooting and maintaining technology hardware and software.

8.       Uses of technology in education.

D.            Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.

E.             Strong attention to detail, record keeping and documentation.

F.             Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.

G.            Able to perform assigned duties.

H.            Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

III.          REPORTS TO:   Instructional Technology Coordinator.

 

IV.         JOB GOALS:

 

         To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.

 

To facilitate the use of technology in various school programs; install, troubleshoot, and help maintain technology hardware and software throughout the district; and provide training and in-service to school staff regarding the uses of technology in education.

 

V.            ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

A.            Installs and updates all types of software on workstations

B.            Installs, troubleshoots, and performs maintenance of workstations and other equipment such as printers, scanners, cameras, etc.  

C.            Documents technical issues, the attempts to resolve, and the resolutions.

D.            Performs necessary housekeeping tasks such as management of accounts associated with software applications, etc. as needed.

E.             Completes basic preventative maintenance of both hardware and software on workstations, printers, and other technology equipment when necessary.

F.             Inventories, sets up and installs new hardware, tracks hardware inventory throughout school year and maintains hardware/software inventory database.

G.            Helps staff implement appropriate software and materials for use in their school curriculum.  

H.            Gains proficiency in the major approved District software packages and supports school staff in their use.

I.               Provides training and in-service to school staff regarding uses of technology, as needed.

J.              Coordinates the distribution of licensed software and monitors the school's compliance with program and software license agreements.

K.            Knows and supports District policies regarding technology integration; such as standardization and network use protocol; in order to provide unified and effective support for technology to students and staff.

L.             Provides building technology planning assistance.

M.           Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.

N.            Has regular and predictable attendance.

 

VI.         OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

A.            Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

VII.       TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

  This is a full-time position scheduled for 8 hours per day, 197 days per year.  Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy.  Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 8 to 9 - $14.12 to $15.74 per hour depending on certifications and experience.   

 

         This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law.   The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.

 

VIII.    EVALUATION:

 

 Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Instructional Technology Coordinator in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.

 

         This position has been given an overall physical classification of medium duty.
