Qualifications
·
Proven experience of effective educational
leadership skills with a very strong working knowledge of
effective classroom instruction and early literacy success,
administrative experience preferred
·
Strong understanding of the Connecticut
Accountability for Learning Initiative, preferably with
certification training in two or more of the modules
·
Knowledge and experience providing
professional development of research-based instructional
practices and how to monitor, supervise and evaluate the
implementation of such strategies across all content areas
·
Knowledge and experience using a variety of
assessment tools and analyzing student data to organize
personnel and create structures to support student
achievement
·
Demonstrated success in communicating
effectively with teachers, parents, students and
instructional aides in order to establish trusting, open
relationships
·
Demonstrated ability to consult and facilitate
groups of individuals
·
Extensive knowledge of SRBI as it relates to
K-2 implementation
·
Ability to multi-task projects effectively,
and maintain a professional, orderly learning
environment
·
Knowledge of the change process and ability to
facilitate change in adult behaviors
Responsibilities
·
Monitor, supervise and evaluate all certified
teaching staff
·
Work closely with central office
administration to coordinate and implement the work and
components of a professional learning community
·
Facilitate monthly staff meetings with clear
agendas and expected outcomes
·
Develop, implement, monitor, evaluate and
adjust strategic school improvement plan
·
Oversee implementation of curriculum,
instructional practices and assessment of students and
revise/address issues as appropriate; develop school/teacher
schedules to maximize instructional time
·
Participation in professional development to
support continuous growth and development as a leader
·
Provide on-site, job-embedded professional
development on various educational topics, including but not
limited to current research and practices pertaining to
curriculum and instruction, classroom management, strategic
planning, teacher evaluation, SBAC and law/compliance
issues
·
Assure systems are in place that allow
universal access to all content and curriculum for all
student subgroups (i.e. - Sp. Ed., ELL) and ensure the
closing of the achievement gap
·
Work with staff and community to create and
sustain a variety of opportunities for parent and community
participation in the school
·
Lead with a clear and coherent vision under a
school culture and climate of respect, responsibility,
accountability and transparency
·
Order school/staff supplies and maintain
building budget and mobilize resources to ensure equity
across classrooms and programs
