POSITION:   DEAN OF TEACHING AND LEARNING

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.      A Master’s Degree

2.      Appropriate Massachusetts Administrator license;

3.      Working knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS);

4.      At least three years of successful educational leadership experience;

5.      Knowledge and understanding of effective educational practices and scientifically-based strategies for improving learning;

6.      Successful experience helping others shift to more effective educational practice;

7.      Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; and

8.      Excellent time management, organizational, human relations and interpersonal skills.

9.      Any other duties as defined by the Principal

 

REPORTS TO:  Principal

 

SUPERVISES: Assignments as determined by the Principal

 

JOB GOAL: Serve as a member of a collaborative leadership structure within a secondary educational environment.  Provide leadership for supervision and support of teachers and students.  Promote a positive school culture through academic and extra-curricular activities.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Support and direct effective teaching and learning and scientifically-based strategies for improved student learning;

2.  Make classroom visits and observations and hold follow-up conferences with teachers;

3.  Understandings gained through these experiences should provide suggestions for improving classroom procedures and teaching strategies where the need arises

4.  Confer with students and, as required, with parents, regarding achievement, growth, and other matters related to the success of the students;

5.   Prepare special reports to the principal;

6.   Assist with the monitoring of the school improvement plan;

7.   Supervise inventory and requisition of textbooks;

8.   Make recommendations concerning school equipment;

9.   Represent the school in community functions when requested by the principal;

10.  Other duties as assigned by the principal.

 

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  In accordance with the Fall River Administrator’s Association Contract. Based on previous experience, degree(s), and credit status.  Employment is contingent on job performance, program needs, and funding.
