Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree, Current RN License in the state of IL,
Current CPR & AED certification, Basic Computer Literacy
and competency in use of existing technology.
Hours: 7:40am-4:00pm
(1 Hour Lunch)
Goal:
As a part of the school support team, the School Nurse will
work collaboratively with the rest of the student support team
to assist in the operational functions of the CICS
campus. The School Nurse will support the school
mission and values as well as the CICS and DS mission and
values to be the face and voice of our school with
professionalism and organization, as a top priority at all
times.

Responsibilities:
- Provides direct
professional nursing services, first aid, illness and emergency
care to students and staff in response to the nursing
assessment and in accordance with professional standards,
school policies and procedures, and state and local
mandates.
- Administers
medication with appropriate documentation and doctors
orders.
- Maintains accurate
medical records to ensure compliance with state and school
mandates including immunizations, physical examinations, and
medical conditions and the related archival
responsibilities.
- Performs and
organizes mandated screening procedures for vision and hearing
testing.
- Makes appropriate
assessment and referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a
mandated reporter and collaborates with social worker and dean.
Keeps accurate documentation and log of reports to DCFS.
- Handles all Vision
and Dental Forms required by the state of IL.
- Plan/Organize &
Follow Up on exams, and documentation on Vision and Hearing in
order to complete end of year state report.
- Communicates with
the Certified School Nurse, Teachers, Case Manager, Social
Worker, other school personnel, parents/guardians and ALL CPS
clinicians to enhance cooperative action, which will meet the
health and safety needs of our students.
- Provides health
service information and counseling in an effective and positive
manner to enhance the health and wellness of the school
community.
- Organizes and
communicates documentation for all 504 meetings in
collaboration with the school case manager.
- Collaborates with
the CPS nurse to ensure services/documentation for all IEP
meetings.
- Maintain accurate
records of accident/incident reports for students and staff and
inform Director of Academic Achievement if a student/staff
member visits the hospital.
- Compile data for
health related absences and information needed for reporting
deliverables.
- Maintain
Confidentiality for all school and health related issues.
- Maintain a daily
log of student/staff visits and documentation on individual
health records.
- Organize and clean
the nursing area and office to provide clean and appropriate
accommodations for students and staff.
- Keep inventory of
nursing supplies and inform administration when supplies are
needed by completing order forms and purchase orders.
- Utilize existing
technology effectively in the performance of duties.
- Assist with the
collection of mandated Illinois medical documentation through
registration to confirm we are in compliance.
- Performs other
health or school related work as required.
- Research and plan
health/wellness Professional development and provide
suggestions to administration for planning PD. Support school
with presenting PD on mandated requirements.
- Perform other
functions as needed and attend school events as needed
- Maintains contact
with a professional nursing association and utilizes continuing
education opportunities to enhance professional knowledge.
- Participates as an
active part of the school community representing health and
wellness.
- Participate in
school activities and committees.
