Qualifications:

 

Required: 

  • Valid Colorado Teaching License or eligible for Colorado Teaching License
  • Secondary Reading Endorsement

Preferred:
  • Strong coursework or background in English, reading, and writing
  • Willingness to participate in co-curricular/extracurricular activities
  • Skilled reader, writer, speaker with a command of the English language
  • Creative use and application of Language Arts content standards
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to incorporate authentic assessments, cooperative learning, and technology in classroom (computer literate)
  • Strong belief in a rigorous and relevant high school curriculum
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multi-age grouping as well as developing individualized educational plans including ILP's
  • Professional Development in Step-Up-To-Writing
  • Professional Development in Six Trait Writing
  • Experience or coursework in multi-cultural awareness
  • Strong but dignified classroom management skills
  • Participation in Professional Learning Communities training
  • Understanding of T-CAP, ACT, English and Reading assessments
  • Ability to perform an item analysis on an assessment and develop instructional strategies to improve instruction
  • Knowledge and ability to use research based literacy instructional strategies
