DOUGLAS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Under general supervision performs routine work in the maintenance
of food service areas, facilities and equipments in a clean, safe and sanitary
condition; and performs related work as required.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the
Nutrition Manager. The Nutrition Manager
will at least annually evaluate the Cashier/Helper’s performance.
Clean tables, chairs, food containers, serving counters, and
other kitchen equipment.
Wash pans, trays, plates, silverware, and serving equipment.
Store food products received from central kitchen.
in preparing menu items for cooking and serving including, but not limited to,
entrees, breads, salads, fresh fruits, vegetables and desserts.

with supervision of student help.
in the maintenance of school cafeteria records, orders and inventory supplies.
act as cashier, collecting money, making change and counting totals.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Frequent contact with students, staff and parents. The majority of contacts are in person.
CONDITIONS OF WORK
Work involves standing and walking for extended periods of
time; moderate lifting up to 35 pounds; dexterity of hands and fingers to
operate kitchen equipment; pushing or pulling objects, food trays and carts
weighing up to 50 pounds; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and
horizontally; seeing to assure proper quantities of food; bending at the
waist. Exposure to heat from ovens and
hot foods; cold from walk-in refrigerators and freezers; equipment, and metal
objects used in cooking and cleaning; exposure to sharp knives and slicers;
exposure to detergents, abrasives cleaning solvents and disinfectants.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of basic kitchen utensils and equipment; basic food
service safety and sanitation practices and principles; basic math; knowledge
of proper food handling, cleaning and storage. The ability to perform the
following work activities with or without reasonable accommodations:
food service equipment and facilities in clean and sanitary condition.

the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work; some paid or volunteer
experience in the serving and preparation of foods is desirable; demonstrate
dependability and cleanliness.
