CLERK-TYPIST
FUNCTION
Performs
office support work of routine difficulty involving public
contact, filing, phone work, mail, receptionist, and typing and
computer operation.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is
performed under immediate to general supervision of the
Principal, Vice Principal and Head Secretary. Work is proofed and
reviewed at various stages of completion.
The Principal/Vice Principal will at least annually evaluate the
Clerk-Typist's performance.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
None.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Type forms,
cards, lists, correspondence and form letters using a typewriter
or word processor; perform data entry.
Answer the
telephone; obtain information from the caller; takes messages and
forward calls to the appropriate person; may provide answers to
standard questions.
Greet
visitors and refer to the appropriate person.
File and
retrieve materials using established filing system; sort and
index materials for filing or distribution.
Copy
materials using a photocopy machine; sort, compile, staple and
bundle materials.
Receive, pick
up, sort and deliver mail; stuff envelopes; address envelopes and
prepare mailings.
Proof
typewritten work and check forms and materials for accuracy and
completeness.
Keep an
office supply and materials inventory.
May
specialize in duties such as attendance, receptionist,
registration of students, record keeping, and other related
duties.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform other
related duties as assigned.
WORK CONTACTS
Frequent
contact with students, parents, the general public and other
district staff primarily to provide and obtain general
information.
CONDITIONS OF WORK
Light physical activity in a normal office environment.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of
standard office practices and procedures; knowledge of basic
grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Skill in typing and basic computer and office machine operation.
The ability to perform the following work activities with or
without reasonable accommodation:

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
High school
graduation or equivalent including or supplemented by coursework
in typing or office procedures or any equivalent combination of
training, experience and education which provides the necessary
knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work.
