POSITION: DAYCARE AIDE

 

SUMMARY: Provides care and supervision for children who attend the EVSC Childcare Program.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of daily activieies for students.
  • Help to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students.
  • Assist in maintaining daily attendance reports.
  • Recieve direction from the coordinator as to other duties as assigned.

PAY:   Entry Level: $7.25/hour

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students assigned by the coordinator. 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree.  Prefer experience in childcare.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must be certified annually in first aid and CPR.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to customers, clients, and employees of the corporation.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Previous work in child care.  Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.  Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of related corporation policies and state requirements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, see, and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  The employee must be able to push items of 50 lbs. such as pushing children on a cart or moving/rearranging furniture.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud and is a standard acceptable level for this environment.  The work environment requires this employee to be directly responsible for students safety and well-being.  The work environment includes inside and outside areas.  The work environment includes exposure to sunlight, risk of getting bitten by animals or insects,  exposure to environmental allergens (grass, weeds, pollens, trees), and occasional exposure to solvents, degreasers, pesticides, and/or herbicides.  The employee may be exposed to CRT's.
