AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE
PERSON
FUNCTION
Performs routine service and maintenance work involving
school buses and other district vehicles.
SUPERVISION
RECEIVED
Work is performed in accordance with established procedures
under the general supervision of the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, who will
at least annually evaluate the Auto Service Person’s performance.

ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
Check vehicles for water, oil, belts and perform the more
routine aspects of inspections on assigned vehicles.
Fuel and lubricate vehicles.
Make simple repairs to vehicle interiors.
Check and repair lights, wipers, mirrors, and other related
equipment.
Maintain written records of all work completed.
Report to mechanics all vehicle repair needs observed during
inspection.
Wash and otherwise keep vehicles and equipment in clean and
orderly condition.
Pick up and deliver tires and parts.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform other related duties as assigned.
WORK CONTACTS
Frequent contacts with mechanics and other district
personnel.
CONDITIONS OF WORK
Work involves lifting, extensive walking, standing, bending
and materials such as oils, diesel and unleaded fuels.
REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Good knowledge of vehicle fueling procedures and basic fuel
handling; good knowledge of fuel equipment and minor repair; good knowledge of
simple mechanical parts of vehicles and/or buses; some knowledge of methods,
materials, tools and equipment used in maintaining buses and other
vehicles. The ability to perform the
following work activities with or without reasonable accommodations:

vehicles/buses in a clean and safe condition.

and maintain complete and accurate records and reports.

ACCEPTABLE
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Some experience in the servicing of vehicles or buses and
high school graduation; or any equivalent combination of experience and
training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this
work.
SPECIAL
REQUIREMENTS
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Nevada driver’s
license.
