Employment: 10 months/year - benefited - full-time
Salary: Commensurate with teacher salary schedule based on experience and degree
Application Procedures: Applicants must complete an online teaching application and attach (upload) a letter of interest, resume, copies of PRAXIS scores, transcripts and teaching license no later than 4:30pm by July 26, 2012. Qualifications:
- Hold a valid
Delaware Initial, Continuing, or Advanced License; or a Limited Standard, Standard or Professional Status
Certificate issued by the Delaware Department of Education prior to August
31, 2003; and,
- Has met the requirements as set
forth in 14 DE Admins. Code 1505 Standard Certificate, including any
subsequent amendment or revision thereto; and,
- Has satisfied the additional
requirements in the regulation
- Has satisfactorily completed
fifteen (15) credits or their equivalent in professional development
related to Dance and Drama/Theatre, selected by the applicant with the
approval of the employing school district or charter school which is
submitted to the Delaware Department of Education; or
- Has obtained certification in
Dance from an accredited institution
- Six years of experience in the
trade is preferred
- Ability to make real-world
connections to promote work-based learning opportunities for the students
- Ability to follow established
curriculum
- Ability to work with diverse students and must possess
sensitivity to students’ cultural needs
General Responsibilities: Applicants for the Dance/Theatre teaching
position within the Arts & Humanities Academy at Glasgow High School must
have the willingness and ability to teach high school students all aspects of Dance
and Drama.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for teaching all
three levels (years) of the career pathway

Select and plan class content, which may include
stretching, improvisation, dance techniques, strength exercises or combinations
- Design a curriculum that covers a range of styles,
techniques and genres
- Determine class skill levels and make class content
adjustments as necessary
- Design a recital program; choose theme, music, and
choreograph all dance pieces
- Attend periodic staff meetings, professional
development, and performances
- Choreograph and teach planned routines to be
performed at school events
- Responsible for demonstrating and
communicating a vision for the overall dance and drama program with the
goal of making this program one of world class status
- Responsible
for designing the dance program, building the curriculum and effective
lesson plans
- Responsible
for successfully preparing students for post-secondary opportunities in
the performing arts
- Responsible
for building partnerships to maximize student exposure to performance
opportunities
- Responsible
for providing students with engaging, hands-on experiences as part of the performing arts program and philosophy
- Responsible
for incorporating project-based learning into the daily class routine
- Responsible
for increasing enrollment in the Performing Arts pathway to sustainable
levels
- Moderate physical activity required. Must be able to lift 25
pounds. Must be able to stand
and/or walk for 7.5 hours per day
