CASHIER HELPER II
FUNCTION
Performs
moderately difficult work in the performance of food service work
involving receiving and recording revenues for meals and
assisting with kitchen production including cooking and preparing
food.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is
performed under the general supervision of the Nutrition Manager.
The Nutrition Manager will at least annually evaluate the
Cashier/Helper's performance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Receive revenues for account prepayments and for meal and all
other food sales on a daily basis.
Record the number of free, reduced price, and paid student meals
served as well as any other meal sales on a daily basis.
Record all other food sales on a daily basis.
Count revenues with one other school nutrition program employee,
complete all appropriate deposit procedures including taking
money in sealed bank bag to designated school office personnel
for securing safely until pick up.
Keep the snack inventory.
Assist in preparing menu items for cooking and serving including,
but not limited to, entrees, breads, salads, fresh fruits,
vegetables and desserts.
Set up food serving stations and serves, clean and store dishes,
utensils, cafeteria equipment and food supplies; clean work
areas; operate kitchen equipment.
Assist with supervision of student help.
Operate a computerized cash register; accept payments for food
when necessary.
Assist in the maintenance of school cafeteria records, orders and
inventory supplies.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform other
related duties as assigned.
WORK CONTACTS
Frequent
contact with students, staff and parents.
The majority of contacts are in person.
CONDITIONS OF WORK
Work involves
standing, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of
reading, writing and business math; ability to perform basic
mathematics; knowledge of commonly encountered commercial kitchen
equipment and utensils and their safe handling and operation;
knowledge of proper food handling, cleaning and storage. The
ability to perform the following work activities with or without
reasonable accommodations:

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND
TRAINING
Some
experience in commercial or institutional food preparation and
high school graduation or equivalent; or any equivalent
combination of experience and training which provides the
knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.
