QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE
- KNOWLEDGE:
·
Minimum
of a high school diploma.
·
Science
background with some chemical lab experience
·
Experience
with Macintosh or PC computers.
·
Experience
with Microsoft Office software.
·
Experience
in working with or supervising young people.
·
Good
written and verbal communication skills.
·
General
office skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
·
Prepares
chemical solutions, teaching aids, operates water distilling apparatus and
autoclave.
·
Prepares
stains and bacterial media for biology division.
·
Assists
teachers in setting up lab experiments, dispensing supplies, equipment, and
monitoring student testing.
·
Order
supplies and maintains inventory of all chemicals and equipment.
·
Assists
teachers in the use of computerized test grading and generation of tests
including District CRT’s.
·
Process
student referrals and progress reports.
·
General
clerical duties: receive and process phone calls; receive and process mail;
copying; collating; filing;
·
Supervise
and instruct student volunteer lab aides.
·
Other
assignments as requested.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
·
Ability
to work independently without close supervision.
·
Ability
to operate a Macintosh/PC computer, related software and document scanners.
·
Ability
to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
·
Ability
to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
·
Ability
to develop effective working relationships with students and staff.
·
Ability
to comprehend and carry out complex instructions.
·
Ability
to interact with staff and students in a positive manner.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to
stand and talk or hear. Frequently the
employee will walk while performing the duties of this job. Occasionally the employee will sit. Frequently the employee will stoop or kneel
and repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion many times. Specific vision abilities required by this
job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the
ability to adjust focus. The position
requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The
noise level in the work environment is moderate. Duties are performed indoors.
