Job Summary:

 

The Activity Leader will supervise a group of 20-25 students, assisting students with homework, providing enrichment and academic activities that directly correlate to district essential standards. The Activity Leader plans and delivers curricula, considers age level developmental needs and interests, is a positive role model for students, supports students to experience a variety of learning opportunities, and creates a positive environment for learning and enrichment with a goal of 100% participation.

Minimum Qualifications & Abilities:

 

Ø       High School Diploma

Ø       AA Degree or 48 Semester Units or meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrated, through an assessment, the knowledge and ability to assist in instruction  - (CODESSP Exam)

Ø       Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents staff, and the public

Ø       Knowledge of Basic instructional methods and techniques.

Ø       Interpret and follow rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Ø       Prepares instructional materials and academic instruction to individuals or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction and following up on specific language, spelling, reading, art and other subject activities.

Ø       Prepare and maintain student work areas.

Ø       Develops and implements academic and enrichment activities

Ø       Assists students in improving academic skills and reaching performance goals

Ø       Establishes cooperative and effective working relationships with children and adults

Ø       Observe and control behavior of students according to approved procedures; report progress regarding student performance and behavior.

Ø       Assure the health and safety of students by following established practices and procedures; maintain learning environment in a safe, orderly and clean manner.

Ø       Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about children

Ø       Creates an attractive and safe learning environment

Ø       Maintains necessary records and files relating to the program

Ø       Participate in Staff Development activities
