Duties & Responsibilities:  (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

·   Provides an environment that supports student achievement

·   Willing to support tier 2 and tier 3 interventions.

·   Provide leadership and management (inventory, maintain, monitor usage, etc) of the library and computer labs.

·   Develop current collection of books, periodicals, visual, auditory, computerized, and professional resources.

·   Work collaboratively with staff to support them in the planning and usage of Media to enhance classroom instruction.

·   Provide applicable instruction to students that support District Curriculum and Best Practice.

·   Maintains and inventories technology throughout the building (ex. computers, overheads, bulbs, printer cartridges, head phones, etc)

·   Implements duties as established in the District Media Specialist (Teacher Librarian) job description..

·   Must be familiar with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point)

·   Ability to learn and work with Destiny software

·   Ability to troubleshoot computer technical issues in accordance with LIS policy

·   Ability to work with and teach a diverse student population.

·   Ability to assist students and teachers with the use of their elockers and other hardware and software needs.

·   Willingness to participate in Data Team process

·   Willingness to make accommodations and differentiate instruction for students in the classroom and in the library

·   Willingness to communicate with parents on a regular basis.

·   Responsible for Battle of the Books

·   Responsible for purchasing, tracking, and distributing PBIS incentives.

·   Participation in the curriculum development process at both the building and district level to ensure that the curricula include the full range of literacy skills.

·   Responsible for creating and promoting reading and writing programs to promote schoolwide literacy.

·   Responsible for  purchasing  materials that support all grade level curriculums.

·   Other duties as assigned by Administration.

Physical Requirements of Position:  (HBV   Yes   No)

·   Ability to lift and bend to re-shelve books

·   Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 lbs.

·   Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students and their families to ensure that each child reaches his/her full potential.
