About
E.L. Haynes Public Charter School was founded
in 2004 and has an award-winning program based on effective practices for
advancing student achievement. E.L. Haynes is among the top-performing charter
schools in Washington D.C., and is recognized locally and nationally as a model
and for our exceptional student achievement gains. E.L. Haynes currently
serves over 800 students in grades PreK-9 and continues to grow until it serves
PreK-12th grade.
Our Mission
Every E.L. Haynes student of every race,
socioeconomic status, and home language will reach high levels of academic
achievement and be prepared to succeed at the college of his or her
choice. Every E.L. Haynes student will be adept at mathematical
reasoning, will use scientific methods effectively to frame and solve problems,
and will develop the lifelong skills needed to be successful individuals,
active community members, and responsible citizens.
Description
E.L.
Haynes Public Charter School, located in Northwest Washington, D.C., is seeking
dynamic individuals to fill positions in our exceptional Extended Day Program.
Positions are ideal for creative individuals seeking a career in
education or those who have a deep interest in, love for, and commitment to
working with children in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Named after Dr. Euphemia Lofton Haynes, a D.C. teacher and the first
African-American woman to receive a doctorate in mathematics, E.L. Haynes
serves a diverse body of students throughout the District of Columbia.
Time Commitment: Positions are part-time,
totaling at least 18 hours per week. Employees
are required to work 7:00am-9:00am Monday-Friday (Pre-K-3<sup>rd</sup> grades)
and (4<sup>th</sup>-8<sup>th</sup>)
Regularly
scheduled Extended Day Staff Meetings with on-going training will be provided.
Recommended
Qualifications: Preferred applicants
will have child-care experience, lesson-planning experience, and an interest in
education and/or child development.
Responsibilities: Academic responsibilities include leading small
groups of students during before-school with academic support and maintaining a
cooperative environment during breakfast.
Expectations: Staff members will be expected to display
professionalism in all aspects of this position, including arriving at school
on time and prepared to work, attending all professional development workshops,
and reinforcing the student behavior expectations of the E.L. Haynes Year-round
Programs Department.
Compensation: Salaries will range from $11-$15/hr.
