Job Summary:
·
As a member of a teaching team, the Writing Teacher will be
responsible for teaching students in an interesting, stimulating, and
effective manner. He or she uses a variety of instructional methodologies and
curriculum resources to teach content and skills to students. They regularly
administer different forms of student assessments and use the information
gained from these to guide instructional planning.
·
The teacher works as a team member, participating in common planning,
professional development, and curriculum design. Teachers are reflective
about their practice and as they develop areas of expertise, share this with
their team members. Teachers
collaborate with house team members to analyze different forms of student
assessments, communicate with parents and other team members about student
progress, and plan for further instruction. They work to integrate technology
into their teaching and professional activities.

lead teachers and other colleagues to develop and build teaching skills;

Content Area Responsibilities
·
An understanding of
the English Language Arts common core
·
• An understanding of
Writers Workshop and process writing
·
• The ability to plan
and collaborate with teachers in grades k-5
·
• A strong plan for
classroom management

• Strategies to engage
students

• The ability to
analyze and use data to support instruction
·
• Preferably a
background with English Language Arts – a reading endorsement or writing
endorsement
·

Special Qualification Desired:
(Personal
Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)
?Bachelor of Arts or
Bachelor of Science degree required
?Meets the state-specific definition of a highly qualified teacher,
including any licensure and subject-area requirements
?Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience preferred, with experience
in the content area of writing and literacy preferred.
?Evidence of educational experiences after college preferred:
fellowships, summer study, or graduate course work to pursue greater depth in
a subject area, specific instructional methodology, curriculum development,
special education, technology, etc.
