Title: Reading/Early Intervention Specialist – 1.0 position
School: Middle Gate School
Starting Date: August 2012
Remuneration: See current teacher salary agreement and the Superintendent of Schools.
Responsibilities: To perform those duties and responsibilities as described in the district’s Teacher Job Description, to provide early intervention instruction in reading and writing, work with children in small groups, monitor and record student progress, act as case partner in the SRBI process, motivate readers and support building literacy initiatives, and regularly communicate with parents and teachers regarding student progress.
Qualifications: Connecticut Certification 102 required. Strong background in early elementary education and early literacy development. Reflective learner who has high expectations for his/her performance and that of students. Commitment to contributing to a community of learners. Ability to work and actively involve parents in the educational process. Strong technology background.
