Recently successful high school head basketball coach experience with positive measureable
results.

Valid First Aid & CPR certification

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Physical Education, Athletics & Field House
OBJECTIVES:
. Develop an exemplary basketball program on and off the court.
. Provide academic leadership and direction for all student-athletes under his/her
supervision.
. Provide exemplary leadership, instruction, coordination, and direction to the entire
Wilbur Cross High School basketball program
. Provide leadership and instruction with the personal and athletic development of
student-athletes.
. Develop outstanding student- athletes on the court, school and in the community
EVALUATIVE & PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
.
Direct and coordinate all activities of the basketball program and staff.
.
Ensure compliance of all district and state rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
.
Hire an assistant coaching staff of outstanding character and knowledge that will
support your philosophy and goals.
.
Assist with the evaluation and development of staff of assistant coaches.
.
Develop, define and delegate duties and responsibilities to assistants.
.
Monitor, maintain and verify budget and expenditures.
.
Promote, develop and supervise an academically and athletically positive sub-varsity
basketball program
EVALUATIVE & PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (continued):
.
Monitor weekly in – season and monthly out-of -season academic and athletic progress
of student-athletes.
.
Assist student-athletes and their parent/guardians with post high school educational
plans and college application(s).
.
Direct the staff in the preparation, analyzing and planning for opponents.
.
Organize, verify and maintain equipment and uniforms.
.
Organize and conduct all meetings, practices, scrimmages and contests.
.
Ensure that medical and emergency requirements are exercised
appropriately at all times
.
Direct the supervision of all practice and team functions at all times
.
Direct the supervision of staff, student- athletes, managers and others for all basketball
related activities and programs, including transportation to and from practices, games
and team functions.
.
Maintain positive on- going communication with student-athletes, parents, community,
school staff and the media
.
Store all equipment and uniforms in a safe, secure location
.
Attend all required / mandatory athletic department, league and other meetings per the
Citywide Athletics Director.
.
Attend a minimum of two out of season coaching clinics to improve and enhance
coaching skills
.
Process and submit all required forms and paperwork.
.
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as required.
.
Develop and maintain positive season & post season results.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
. One basketball season
. Contract renewed on a yearly basis (September 1 to August 31)
. Contract renewed at the discretion of the New Haven Board of Education
