  Description:
  • Work full-time in the pre-kindergarten program
  • Participate in daily and long-range planning with the classroom teachers and other staff members
  • Assist with classroom routines and daily instruction
  • Work with small groups, large groups, and individual children
  • Assist teacher in all in-school and out-of-school activities such as field trips and outdoor learning experiences
  • Observe children’s progress and share with classroom teacher
  • Assist in promoting a safe learning environment
  • Participate in periodic assessment of children through team meetings
  • Contribute to instructional activities by utilizing own special talents and abilities
  • Participate in the recruitment process to determine eligible children
  • Help children to develop awareness of good health practices, such as washing hands and good eating habits
  • Assist teacher in necessary clerical work
  • Participate in meetings to plan appropriate activities based on the needs of the students
  • Maintain daily logs which reflect work with individual children and small groups
  • Participate in ongoing professional and staff development activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency), plus one of the following:  Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, pass an academic assessment
  • Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification
  • General concepts of child growth/development/child behavior characteristics
  • Ability to work with people of diverse ethnic groups
  • Demonstrated genuine interest in small children, a sense of responsibility for their welfare and growth
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
