QUALIFICATIONS
Official evidence of the following: Bachelor's Degree in
Education or a directly related field from an accredited
college/university; Texas Standard Principal certificate,
Mid-management certificate, or a Probationary certificate based
on admission to a TEA approved Administration Preparation
Program.
Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS) appraiser
certification required within 90 days of appointment.
Master's Degree in a directly related field, preferred from an
accredited college/university.
Three years of experience as a classroom teacher.
Demonstrated thorough knowledge of the principles, methods,
strategies, goals and objectives of public education.
Demonstrated knowledge of procedures, techniques and strategies
pertaining to the administration o
f a secondary school level operation.
Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organize and coordinate
the management functions and activities of a secondary school
operation.
Demonstrated ability to carry out responsibilities with little or
no supervision.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities with frequent
interruptions.
Demonstrated ability to promote a positive, caring climate for
learning.
Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze problems, issues and
concerns and formulate appropriate alternative solutions.
Demonstrated ability to deal sensitively and fairly with persons
from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with student, staff,
parents and community members.
Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, communication and
interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the
position.
BASIC FUNCTIONS
Participate in development and evaluation of educational
programs.
Encourage the development of innovative instructional programs,
helping teachers pilot such efforts, as appropriate.
Promote the use of technology in teaching/learning process.
Assist principal in the development, maintenance, and use of
information systems to maintain and record progress on campus
performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.
Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct
evaluation conferences.
Assist principal in interviewing, selecting and orienting new
staff.
Assist in the planning of daily school activities by
participating in the development of class schedules, teacher
assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
Supervise reporting and monitoring of students attendance and
work with attendance clerk on follow up investigations.
Assist with safety inspections and safety-drill practices.
Ensure that students are adequately supervised during
non-instructional periods.
Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents,
students, and teachers.
Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
