3.0 FTE DISTRICT INSTRUCTIONAL PARAPROFESSIONAL

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A high school diploma or training and experience that are
considered equivalent.
2. In response to the federal legislation known as
No Child Left Behind
, ONE of the following requirements is
needed for compliance:
• Complete at least two years of study at an institution of
higher education (
defined as 48 semester or 72
quarter hours as verified by college transcript from an
accredited institution of higher education
); OR
• Obtain an associate (or higher) degree from an accredited
institution of higher education (
defined as any
associate degree program from an accredited institution of
higher education
); OR
• Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate,
through a formal State or local academic assessment
-- (i) knowledge of, and the ability to assist in
instructing reading, writing and mathematics; or (ii)
knowledge of, and the ability to assist in readiness for
reading, writing, and mathematics.
3. Good human relations with an ability to communicate in a
courteous manner.
4. A neat appearance.
5. Experience working with children preferred.
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the
Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists students in the completion of classroom
activities assigned by the Intervention Specialist.
2. Assists the Intervention Specialist in routine classroom
and school activities, implementation of IEP services,
behavior plans, student assessment, playground and lunch
duty.
3. Assists in the preparation of classroom materials,
displays, and individual student accommodations and
modifications.
4. Assists Special Education students in regular education
classes, including attending class with student and
providing student supports as needed and or indicated on
IEP.
5. Assists Intervention Specialist in maintaining a good
learning environment, including classroom management.
6. Assists students with personal health care needs such as
toileting, personal hygiene and use of adaptive
equipment.
7. Participates in professional growth activities.
8. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her
designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
193 Days (185 same as teacher's schedule, 8 paid holidays);
7 hours per day excluding lunch to be established by
Supervisor. Salary as provided by the Negotiated Agreement.
Work year to be established by the Board of
Education.
SALARY: $19.33/HR-$23.99/HR.
