At Academy High School, students develop
powerful problem-solving and critical thinking skills through
science and inquiry-based learning experiences.
Science, technology,
engineering and mathematics are infused into all content areas
to engage students in a well-rounded education. All
Academy students take math, science, English each year and
social studies for three years. In addition, 9
<SUP>th</SUP>
and 10
<SUP>th</SUP>
grade students take engineering and biomedical elective courses
(Project Lead the Way) that integrate core science and math
knowledge with hands-on project-based programming to ignite the
spark of ingenuity, creativity, and imagination within all
students. All content area teachers are required to
assist students in making connections between their core course
of study and STEM concepts. Applicants should have
experience in hands-on project based instruction while
integrating multiple content areas.
Teachers at Academy High School are expected to
help students learn about the science disciplines, technology,
engineering, and mathematics during their 9-12 high school
experience through a supportive learning environment.

culture of respect and care.

Seminar Instructor Responsibilities:
·
Assist 9th graders successful transition into
high school;
·
Assist students in developing study,
organizational, test taking, and goal setting
skills;
·
Teach, model and instill the six character pillars
to 9th grade students;
·
Support and tutor students during study
hall;
·
Keep students informed on the
happenings of Academy High School;
Seminar Instructor Requirements:
·
A Colorado teaching license with an endorsement in secondary
science;
·
A Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field;
·
Experience teaching STEM topics and science;
·
Strong technology experience and skills;
·
Willing to participate in week long teacher development in STEM
professional development out of state;
·
Willing and available to attend week long overnight field trips
out of state;
·
Willing to teach/coach science and STEM extra-curricular
activities;
·
Experience working with the following a plus:
o
School and District Science and Engineering
Fairs
o
National science, math, engineering related
competitions
o
CAD Software (Solid Works, Google Sketch-up,
etc.).
