WORK DAY/YEAR:  2012-2013 School Year / .5 FTE - Temporary / 192 Days  - Two (2) positions available.

*This is a temporary contracted position ending June 7, 2013.

This position is considered a TOSA position.  Teacher on Special Assignment. 

This position may be combined with the .5 FTE Temporary Family and Community Liaison position provided qualifications are satisfied.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Secondary Education

Job Summary:

The district observers are district employees who will observe and provide feedback to teachers using the teacher observation framework.  Their responsibilities include the following: * Attend summer orientation and training (Starting in August 2012, Approximately 40 hours, these hours will be paid at a rate of $28 per hour directly from TLES/AIR.) *Attend follow-up training sessions throughout the school year. * Observe assigned teachers at scheduled times and conduct feedback sessions.  * Work with building Administrators and Executive Directors.  * Maintain documentation and reports for school district and TLES/AIR.

 

Qualifications:
I. Required * Minnesota Teaching License. * Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience at the elementary and/or middle school levels. *Strong interpersonal skills. *Available to attend observer training in Summer 2012, paid hourly rate directly from TLES/AIR. *Able to pass either the Framework for Teaching (FFT) or Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) observer certification test at the conclusion of the training (contingent hire).

  1. Passing the certification test requires the observer to demonstrate an ability to code instructional videos accurately and with an understaining of why the coding is correct. 
  2. Observer trainees who do not pass the certification test in the number of attempts allowed by the certifying organization will be compensated for their training time but will not be eligible to serve as an abserver for th TLES Study.

II. Desirable * Experience in mathematics instruction, reading instruction or both.  * Lead/mentor/master teacher status (past or present).  * Experience providing feedback to teachers for the purpose of improving instruction.
