POSITION:  Technology/Media Services Technician I (FVEC)  40 hrs.    MMS11 - Grade I Days    Eff. Immediately

 

ASSIGNMENT:  12 Month

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  Works cooperatively with building staff and students as assigned. Install, maintain, repair, and update both hardware and software for building technology systems including but not limited to computer and data network systems. Perform light maintenance and diagnostics on other building systems including but not limited to audio, video, and voice systems. Performs corrective and preventative maintenance on these systems and related equipment. Can independently utilize problem solving and troubleshooting skills to effect needed repairs. May be required to perform work at various locations throughout the District as needed. Attend to the needs of students, staff, and the general public utilizing district facilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and appropriately, as well as exhibit patience and understanding, with the public, students , and staff.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on a frequent basis and up to 80 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to understand and follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Must have an appropriate and valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Must have at least one appropriate vendor certification or equivalent current experience.  (Employees are encouraged to meet these qualifications by participating in the On the Job Training (OJT) program.)
  • Must have successfully completed district recognized courses in Electricity 1, Blueprint reading, a district recognized program in basic software/computer maintenance, and a district recognized program in basic electronics maintenance; or equivalent technical training and two years of current experience.  (The District Training Committee will attempt to identify and pre-approve all recognized courses. If the committee is unable to identify a recognized course, equivalent training and/or work experience asapproved by the committee may be accepted.) 

POSITION EXPECTATIONS: 

  • Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary for the maintenance and operation of district technology systems by working in a self-learning environment to review manuals, view web sites, etc. for new software systems and setups, and share knowledge gained with appropriate technology staff.
  • Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary for the maintenance and operation of district and building site licensed software i.e., software used throughout a building including but not limited to ClarisWorks, Apple Network Administrative Tool (ANAT), Appleshare.
  • Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to repair and maintain District technology systems and equipment.
  • Work with building and district technology teams in the implementation of building and district wide technology initiatives including mentoring and training of students and staff, within a district recognized program, in the area of technical installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Achieve a high level of knowledge and skills necessary for operating, maintaining, repairing, reconfiguring, or upgrading at least one of the major technical systems currently in place as determined by the designated director.
  • Maintain an appropriate and valid driver's license and maintain a safe driving record.
