QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of an Occupational
Therapy Assistant program
Certification
as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
Full
approval by the State of Michigan
CURRICULUM: Competent
using a variety of technology applications
COMPLIANCE: Comply
with all Michigan Special Education law/requirements
Provide
occupational therapy services as directed by Occupational
Therapist
Collect,
record, and report data relative to student performance
on
individual goals and objectives as directed by Occupational
Therapist
Conduct
required formal and informal evaluations to measure
students'
progress
Maintain
accurate records of progress and service
Demonstrates
knowledge of policy, laws and regulations relating
to special
education
Active
participant in the CIMS process, including implementing any
required
corrective actions
Comply
with state and district policy on the use of seclusion and
restraint
Maintain
confidentiality at all times
DISTRICT: Participate
in area meetings with Special Education Director as required
Participate in building meetings as directed by building
principal
Complete
Medicaid documentation, monthly as directed by Occupational
Therapist
Work
cooperatively with Occupational Therapist, teachers,
administration,
students,
and parents in a positive and supportive way
Ability
to handle situations in accordance with district policies and
procedures
STUDENT SUPPORT:As directed by Occupational Therapist,
implement a variety of research-based
intervention strategies, continually assessing student response
to intervention
Support
student, teachers and parents by conferring regularly
with
Occupational Therapist regarding student progress and any
additional
modifications or therapy needs
Establish
communication systems between therapist and individual
buildings,
teachers and parents
Participate
in initial evaluations of students suspected of having delays in
motor
skills and sensory integration as directed by Occupational
Therapist
Assist
Occupational Therapist in the preparation of written reports that
shall
include information needed to determine eligibility and
educational data
which indentifies the student's current level of motor skills and
sensory
integration
development
Report
any equipment or supply needs to Occupational Therapist
OTHER: Participate
in professional development opportunities
Perform
other duties as assigned by the building principal or Director of
Special
Education
