Parent & Community Resource Specialist (PCRS) - Range K
Accountability: Principal
Job
Summary: The
role of the PCRS is to provide leadership and support in
developing, implementing and evaluating family engagement and
community involvement strategies to enhance student success.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Works closely with
administrators, family engagement team members and staff to align
family engagement practices with school improvement plans and
overall school priorities.
2. Supports the principal and
school staff in facilitating a needs assessment, identifying
focus areas and creating a customized action plan for family
engagement and community involvement.
3. Organizes and works
closely with the school family engagement team to implement and
evaluate family engagement practices including a communication
plan and utilization of Parent Assistant.
4. Develops and/or
facilitates staff development on current family engagement
research, best practices and effective utilization of
resources.
5. Works closely with the
school staff to recruit and support participants in the school's
extended learning program.
6. Arranges for child care
workers, interpreters, workshop presenters and other support
needed for activities and initiatives.
7. Networks with other school
district departments and community partners to provide resource
information to staff and families.
8. Maintains and presents as
needed documentation of family engagement practices.
9. Compiles, maintains and
disseminates community resource materials for parents and
staff.
10. Supports principals, staff and parents in
evaluating the effectiveness of family engagement initiatives and
community partnerships for continuous improvement.
11. Assists principals in monitoring compliance of
Title 1 requirements.
12. Performs other related duties as requested.
Skills & Educational Requirements:
Education and/or experience in family engagement, education,
social services or community development. Must possess and
exhibit effective verbal and written communication skills.
Interrelations:
Must be able to promote, establish and maintain constructive
working relationships. Must remain mindful of cultural
differences and be a leader in removing barriers to communication
and participation. Must be able to work and communicate
effectively within a team.
Working Conditions:
Daytime, evening and weekend work required to accommodate
staff and families. Must attend required meetings and have
a flexible schedule.
