Director of English Language Learners Program
Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer, the
Director of English Language Learners Program will plan, develop and coordinate
the delivery of instruction and ancillary services to students who are speakers
of other languages or who have limited English proficiency for grades pre K-12.
The Director will also coordinate parent
education and community outreach activities and the bilingual assessment
process.
Location: Lincoln Center
Responsibilities: (1) Communicate
effectively with administrators, teachers and the community; (2) Plan,
coordinate and develop curriculum and other program practices; (3) Identify in-service needs, plans and
coordinates training programs; (4) Use effective communication strategies to
interact with a variety of audiences; (5) Respond to inquiries or concerns in a
timely manner; (6) Demonstrate initiative and a proactive orientation to
recognizing and resolving issues, concerns, or problems; (7) Coordinate the
development and dissemination of reports and information relative to the
program; (8) Use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide
individuals and groups toward task accomplishment; (9) Facilitate
problem-solving by individuals or groups; (10) Develop a plan for bilingual
education based on the assessed needs, goals and philosophy; (11) Coordinate
the entry/exit process for bilingual students; (12) Work proactively with
Academic Team members to address Response to Intervention in relation to
students in the English Language Learners program; (13) Design and implement
transition services; (14) Submit an annual budget based on assessed needs,
District philosophy, goals, and long-and short-term objectives; (15) Plan,
develop and coordinate parent and community outreach activities and programs;
(16) Provide technical assistance to school-level personnel in matters
pertaining to bilingual education; (17) Supervise assigned personnel, conduct
annual performance appraisals, and make recommendations for appropriate
employment actions; (18) Serve on committees, councils, and/or task forces; (19)
Represent the District to outside shareholders in a professional and supportive
manner; (20) Make and share decisions in a timely manner; (21) Listen to
parents or others and decide where a problem should be directed; (22) Attend
all School Board Meetings, and all other meetings outside normal hours and
days; (23) Perform Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: (1) Master’s degree, School Administration Certificate (IL Type 75 or
equivalent); (2) Personal passion for working in a challenging an urban
district environment; (3) Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead change in a
school and/or district setting; (4) Experience designing and delivering high
quality professional development to teachers; (5) Proven experience serving as both
administrator and exemplar teacher; (6) Demonstrated strong interpersonal and
communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and
administration; (7) Administrative Experience preferred; and (8) Elementary,
Middle or High School Teaching Experience – 5 years preferred.
Salary: Minimum of
$85,000 with increases related to experience & qualifications.
