School Improvement Grant Coordinator

Two 49% positions

 

Purpose :

To guide and monitor school site implementation of School Improvement Grant (SIG) goals and activities to increase student achievement.

 

Duties and Responsibilities :

      Responsible for the coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the School Improvement Grant at Griffin High School

      Sets up and monitors an accountability system (tracking system) that includes student, teacher, school and parent/community data to ensure the grant is on track and meeting measureable goals and timelines

      Conducts needs assessments and an annual review to determine school needs and drive grant revisions

      Responsible for researching effective whole school reform models and sharing information with the administration

      Coordinates the implementation of the Transformation model requirements as outlined in the GHS SIG

      Serves as a liaison between central office, Griffin High School and the GaDOE

      Attends all SIG training through the GaDOE

      Facilitates the revision of the grant budget and application amendments

      Communicates SIG information to all stakeholders

      Coordinates monthly meetings with the Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, the Director of High School Curriculum, the Director of Federal Programs, and the GHS School Improvement Specialist to review grant progress and budget

      Collects and files all documentation required for SIG

      Responsible for monitoring visits from GaDOE and USDOE

      Attends school and district-based meetings related to the SIG

      Completes all GaDOE reports required for the SIG

      Ensures all initiatives in the SIG occur according to the developed timeline in the plan

      Assist in the development and implementation of Short-term Action Plans (STAP) as required by the SIG

      Assist in the identification and coordination of community resources and participants to promote the activities identified in the SIG (partnerships for teacher professional learning and partnerships sites for students in collaboration with the work-based learning coordinator)

      Ensure that professional development support is planned, implemented and monitored to directly support the school staff and affect student achievement

      Work with the Finance Department to verify budgets and draw-downs

      Ensure the appropriate approval of expenditures related to the SIG funds

      Ensure reports are accurate and timely

      Ensure SIG funds are incorporated into schoolwide planning

      Develop and use progress measurement tools

      Utilize data to drive program decisions and planning by collecting, analyzing and reporting data on a regular basis

      Lead the deployment of written policies, procedures and processes related to SIG grant administration, in coordination with Federal, State and local regulations and guidelines

      Ensure SIG program initiatives positively impact student achievement

      Additional duties as required by the GaDOE

 

Minimum Qualifications :

      Teaching Certificate

      Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel

      Proficient Skills: Strong oral and written communication, leadership, planning and organization, technology, public speaking, and instruction of the adult learner

      Experience with and knowledge of budgeting procedures

      Excellent organizational, planning and implementation skills

      Ability to work flexible hours

      Ability to multi-task; skills to be a team player and self-starter.

      Works comfortably with school staff, parents, and the community

      Self-motivated and creative - sets goals, establishes weekly and monthly schedules - completes goals on time

      Personal Skills: Pleasant personality, cooperative attitude

 

Preferred Qualifications :

      Knowledge and experience working with federal budgets

      Leadership certificate

      Mental/Physical Demands: Requires the ability to maintain emotional control under stress.   Requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 30 lbs. and other routine physical activities.

      Experience in project management

 

Reports to : Director of Federal Programs and Director of High School Curriculum

 

Days:       230 Days; 8 hours a day for the remainder of 2011-2012

                220 Days. 4 hours a day for 2012-2013

 

Pay Rate:    Based on Teaching Certificate

 

NOTE: Position will be in place for 2012-2013 only as long as School Improvement Grant funds are awarded by the State.
