QUALIFICATIONS
- Accredited Senior High School Diploma or valid (U.S.A.
equivalency)
- Texas Journeyman's Plumber License
- Six (6) years of work experience in general plumbing
installation and repairs
- Demonstrated ability to perform duties under general
supervision
- Demonstrated knowledge of municipal plumbing
codes. Adhere to State and City Code requirements at all
times
- Demonstrated ability to use plumbing tools to install,
repair and maintain a wide range of plumbing fixtures and
fittings
- Must pass Asbestos physical examination and become
registered and obtain certification within 90 days of
employment
- Must have general knowledge and ability to construct
scaffolding and extension ladders, minimum of 40
foot
- Must be able to safely tolerate the elements as required
for the craft
- Must be able to lift or exert force of up to 100 lbs
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel,
crouch, and or crawl; climb, balance and drive
- Must maintain a valid Texas driver license and driving
record that meet Dallas ISD standards
- Must pass Dallas ISD random drug test
- Ability to communicate in English by speaking, reading and
writing
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus
BASIC FUNCTIONS
- Proper training and continuing educaiton is required to
perform all functions in the plumbing craft
- Must identify and control hazardous working conditions and
ensure all safety precautions have been taken before
proceeding
- Read and interpret blueprints and related drawings; perform
appropriate installation and repair procedures to minimize
structural weakness
- Locate and mark exposure positions of pipes, pipe
connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors
using various plumbing tools
- Cut and thread pipes, using various plumbing equipment;
join pipes by using various plumbing materials or
soldering
- Test for various leaks, using pressure gauges and leak
detectors to determine whether system is leaking
- Assemble and install plumbing fixtures, heating pipes,
water and drainage systems according to specifications and
plumbing codes
- Assemble and install valves, pipefittings and pipe composed
of metals and non-metals using hand and power tools
- Repair and maintain fixtures such as sinks, commodes,
bathtubs, water heaters, garbage disposal units, dishwashers
and grease traps
- Obtain and set up scaffolds, ladders, and bucket extension
to perform plumbing work in multi-story, high level
buildings. Perform plumbing work in about and under each campus
as necessary
- Maintain district vehicle with periodic maintenance
inspections, inform supervisor of any known problems with tools
or vehicle in a timely manner, and use all tools in the manner
for which they were intended
- Must conform to all district polices regarding vehicle
operation and seat belt law/policy; whether, as a driver or
passenger in a district vehicle. Notify supervisor of any
accident or injury in a timely manner
- Employee is required to respond to all emergency call outs
as assigned
- Communicate effectively with principals, department heads,
district staff, contractors and vendors in a professional
manner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair and
complete each job or project
- Position may require working alternate shifts
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned

Selected individuals for Dallas Independent School District
positions will be placed according to current district
promotional policy and compensation guidelines. A
campus-based employee may not assume a new position for which
he/she was selected based upon the posting process until the end
