QUALIFICATION
-
Accredited Senior High School Diploma or valid
(U.S.A. equivalency)
-
Three (3) years of work experience
in four different crafts; one (1)
year of experience in carpentry, painting, masonry,
plaster and ceramic tile experience is preferred
-
General knowledge of materials and supplies in
various maintenance trades (i.e., painting, carpentry,
plumbing, electrical) warehousing and inventory
systems
- General knowledge of building codes, laws, and standard
practices commonly used in the repair and maintenance of large
buildings
- Demonstrated ability to review, classify, categorize,
prioritize, and/or analyze data and/or information

Demonstrated ability to perform
responsibilities under general supervision
-
Demonstrated organizational, communication,
and interpersonal skills are required to achieve the goals of
the position
-
General knowledge and experience in using the
correct tools and equipment to perform repairs in more than
one craft
-
Ability to read a tape measure and apply those
measurements to cutting materials to fit the maintenance
repair
-
Must pass lead paint certification
course
-
Must have general knowledge and ability to
construct scaffolding and extension ladders, minimum of 40
foot
-
Must be able to safely tolerate the elements
as required for the craft
-
Must be able to lift or exert force of up to
100 lbs
-
Must be able to reach with hands and arms,
stoop, kneel, crouch, and or crawl; climb, balance and
drive
-
Must maintain a valid Texas driver license and
driving record that meet Dallas ISD standard
-
Must pass the Dallas ISD random drug
test
-
Ability to communicate in English by speaking,
reading, and writing

Ability to communicate in Spanish is a
plus
BASIC FUNCTIONS
-
Perform a variety of repairs and installations
to school facilities, not limited to one craft, including
carpentry, flooring, walls, ceiling, and painting
skills
-
Estimate materials and supplies for completion
of work orders and projects
-
Maintain accurate records of labor, materials,
hours worked, work order completion of assigned work,
projects, and other required records
-
Follow district safety guidelines, by wearing
safety equipment
at all times and using good safety
practices for operating hand and power tools, and other
equipment as needed for job completion
-
Inspect structure, identify and determine
repairs at school facilities that are not documented on
assigned work orders and document these repairs during the
inspection and submit to your Supervisor for work order
issuance

Measure, cut, and shape various materials to
repair maintenance issues
-
Maintain inventory of assigned
tools, equipment, and truck; keep
clean and supplies organized on a daily basis
-
Employee may be required to respond to after
hour/emergency callouts, be placed on an emergency call out
rotation and flex work hours to accommodate job
completions
-
Communicate effectively with principals,
department heads, and district staff and all other auxiliary
services personnel in a professional manner in all phases
necessary to locate, correct, repair and complete each job or
project
-
Position may require working alternate
shifts

Perform all other duties and tasks as
assigned

Selected individuals for Dallas Independent
School District positions will be placed according to current
district promotional policy and compensation guidelines.
