The Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL) is a nonprofit
school management organization operating in partnership with the
Chicago Public Schools. Our mission is to improve student
achievement in Chicago's high-poverty, chronically failing
schools through a disciplined transformation process, built on a
foundation of specially trained AUSL teachers. AUSL seeks
an Admissions Clerk to be part of the team that will process
almost 2,000 applications to yield 200+ high-quality teacher
trainees annually.
The AUSL Residency program, established in 2001, is a one-year
paid, full-time program providing a path to teacher certification
and a Master's degree in partnership with National-Louis
University. After completing their training, AUSL
program graduates are placed in high-needs Chicago public
schools. AUSL also currently manages 25 elementary and
high schools for the Chicago Public schools, including schools
that serve as teacher training sites for AUSL's teacher training
program. AUSL adds new schools to its network each

Responsibilities of the Admissions Clerk position
include:

Working with the Manager of Admissions and Admissions
Coordinators to process 2,000+ applicants to yield 200+ teacher
trainees annually

Manage the timely receipt and processing of admission documents
received by mail, fax, and electronically on a daily
basis

Ensure applicant records are accurately maintained
electronically in admissions software

Organize and manage a complex applicant file system, keeping
track of statuses which may change daily

Assisting in other administrative tasks as necessary
Qualified candidates will possess the following:
-
High school diploma plus 2+ years work experience

Librarian and/or filing skills highly desirable
-
Strong organization, attention to detail, follow-up, and
information management skills
-
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
-
Experience with school admissions and/or CRM software,
preferably Hobsons
-
Experience in a school or community based organization, ideally
in an urban setting
-
Outstanding professional demeanor and customer service
skills
-
Self-directed and results-oriented

Values diversity of thought, backgrounds, and perspectives

Flexibility to work some Saturday mornings (about 6 per
year)

Must be comfortable with technology

Licensed driver with access to an insured vehicle
Annual Salary:
$27,000
