Please be informed of the availability of the following position in the Faribault Public Schools: Job Title: (3) SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL POSITION AT CANNON RIVER EDUCATION CENTER Job Description: 3 Full time special education paraprofessionals to provide paraprofessional support to special education students at the Cannon River Education Center STEP (Secondary Transition Education Program) Program, which serves students 18-21 years old. This program serves Faribault, Northfield, and Minnesota State Academy students. This position will be for 6 hours per day, 5 days per week during the school year. This position commences August 27, 2012.
Qualifications: One of the following required: (1) Two year Associate of Arts degree; OR (2) The equivalent of 60 semester credits OR (3) A portfolio demonstrating MN Core Competencies for Paraprofessionals OR (4) A passing score on the MN Para Pro Test. High School Diploma required. Experience working with students with special needs. Ability and willingness to take direction from the case manager. Trained or willingness to be trained in strategies such as Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), visual schedules, social stories, and positive behavior supports. Trained or willingness to be trained in PAES lab and job coaching. Ability to implement the strategies identified above. Ability to collect and report data as directed by the case manager. Trained or willing to be trained in certain medical procedures. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
