Teacher Assistant - Special Education

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma; Associate Arts Degree preferred
• One year classroom experience or related experience
• Competence in behavior strategies
• Competence in the use of accommodations/modifications for educational programming
• Competence in the use of behavior plans

BASIC FUNCTIONS

• Provide support to teachers working with students with behavior disorders in the general education setting
• Assist with data collection
• Work collaboratively with campuses to meet the needs of students identified with behavior disorders
• Identify and assist with accommodations/modifications for use with students in the general education classroom
• Provide personal/social support through the mentoring of social skills to identified students
• Conduct campus visits to observe students in their educational setting and complete required classroom visit documentation
• Provide academic support to behavior students in the general education curriculum as needed
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned
