Craftsperson - Glazing (3 Positions)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Accredited Senior High School Diploma or valid (U.S.A. equivalency)
  • Three (3) years industrial experience in glazing.
  • Must have completion of thirty-two (32) hours of Environmental Protection Agency and (EPA) Asbestos Worker  Certification courses
  • Must pass State of Texas Asbestos Worker Examination within six (6) months of employment
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under general supervision
  • Must be knowledgeable of glass types, applications, glazier tools and adhesives/putty 
  • General knowledge of applicable jacks, glass holding racks, and hand/power tools
  • Must have general knowledge to construct scaffolding and extension ladders, a minmum of 40 foot
  • Must be able to safely tolerate the elements as required for the craft
  • Must be able to lift or exert force of up to 100 lbs
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and or crawl; climb, balance and drive
  • Must pass Dallas ISD random drug test
  • Must maintain a valid Texas driver license and driving record that meets Dallas ISD standards
  • Ability to communicate in English by speaking, reading and writing
  • ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus

 

BASIC FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to determine glass types and other material requirements needed for glass repair or installation
  • Estimate materials and supplies for completion of work arders and projects
  • Measure, cut, and shape various materials to repair maintenance issues
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately read a measuring tape and other scaled devices
  • Must be knowledgeable in various putties, adhensives, and other glazing materials for glass installation
  • Demonstrated ability to correctly apply putty, adhesives, and re-glaze to all types of window sashes, doors, and glass area
  • General knowlege and experience using the correct glass cutting tools and equipment to perform the repair
  • Identify window sash applications for proper glass and window installations
  • Perform abatement tasks as required for removal of glazing materials according to the rules and regulations of state regulartory agencies
  • Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, hours worked, work order completion of assigned work, projects, and other required records for documentation purpose
  • Maintain inventory of assigned tools, equipment, and truck; keep clean and supplies organized on a daily basis
  • Assist in obtaining materials and tools for the job using the proper Dallas ISD Purchasing procedures
  • Follow local, state and federal regulatory procedures for inspection, documemtation and abatement work performed
  • Follow district safety guidelines, using good safety practices for operating hand/power tools and equipment as needed for the job completion.  Wear safety equipment at all times
  • Communicate effectively with principals, department heads, district staff, contractors and vendors in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair, and complete each project
  • Positions may require working alternate shifts
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assign

 

Minimum  $15.97/Hr                 Midpoint  $20.65/Hr                  Maximum  $26.58/Hr

 

Selected individuals for Dallas Independent School District positions will be placed according to currect district pomotional policy and compensation guidelines. A campus-based employee may not assume a new position for which he/she was selected based upon the posting process until the end of the current semester, unless approved by the Executive Director - Human Resources.
