TITLE:
Substitute Teacher (2012-2013)
II.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A.
Minimum of two years of college with a minimum
of 60 college credits.
B.
Ability to work with students, staff and the
public.
C.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications
as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
III.
REPORTS TO:
Director of Elementary or Secondary Education.
IV.
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District
91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and
contribute to maximizing student achievement.
To enable each child to pursue his
or her education as smoothly and completely as possible in
the absence of the regular teacher.
V.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
A.
Reports to the building principal or
school secretary upon arrival at the school building usually 30
minutes before teaching assignment begins.
B.
If necessary, reviews with the
principal or department head all plans and schedules to be
followed during the teaching day.
C.
Maintains as fully as possible the
established routines and procedures of the school and classroom
to which assigned.
D.
Teaches the lesson outlined and
described in the substitute teacher's plans as prepared by the
absent teacher.
E.
Consults as appropriate with the
building principal or department head before initiating any
teaching or other procedures not specified in the teacher's
plans
F.
Assumes responsibility for overseeing
pupil behavior in class and during recess periods as assigned by
the building principal.
G.
Completes a written report on the
form provided by the school secretary on the day's activities at
the conclusion of each teaching day.
H.
Follows all policies, rules, and
procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good
teaching practice dictates.
I.
Seeks out opportunities for
professional growth.
J.
Maintains high standards of ethical
behavior and confidentiality of student information.
VI.
OTHER DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
A.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
VII.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a part-time position.
Substitute teachers will work on an as-needed basis.
Salary will be established by the Board of Trustees.
The substitute teacher rate is $65 per day and
will apply when substituting for a teacher.
All subs will earn
$8.50 per hour when subbing for a paraprofessional.
VIII.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be
evaluated by the Director of Elementary or Secondary
Education with input from the Building Principal and absent
teacher.
