PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To aid in providing a well-organized, smooth-functioning learning resources center environment in which students and teachers can take full advantage of the materials available.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
1. High school diploma or GED certificate
2. Meet State certification requirements
Special Knowledge/Skills:
1. Satisfactory score on MCISD clerical test in all categories
2. Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Handle routines involved in circulating materials and equipment to students and teachers.
2. Check in new periodicals and other publications and update periodical rack.
3. Prepare and distribute overdues list weekly.
4. Repair damaged books and other materials and keep audiovisual equipment clean and demagnetized.
5. Help with classes in the LRC under the supervision of the LRC Specialist; work with small groups of students as requested by the LRC Specialist; and work with small groups of students released from class, for the purpose of meeting individual needs through special projects.
6. Ready LRC materials for the shelves.
7. Assist students and teachers in finding and collecting materials and equipment; and check materials and equipment in and out.
8. Maintain catalog card, book and supply catalogs, and vertical files.
9. Laminate materials for the LRC.
10. Order, distribute and return films, filmstrips, videotapes, etc., as needed.
11. Type correspondence for LRC specialist and prepare materials for mailing.
12. Take teachers’ requests for METV programs; and maintain and circulate television program guides and schedules.
13. Compile circulation records for materials and equipment; and keep a record of all materials and equipment lost and those for which payment is received.
14. Assist in the annual inventory of LRC materials and equipment.
15. Participate in inservice training programs.
16. Read shelves as time permits.
17. Oversee the general neatness and attractiveness of the LRC and its displays.
18. Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.
