Duties & Responsibilities:  (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

New Hires: Entry Level Rate $9.69/hr; Current employees with senioirty in the bargaining unit; please refer to the Salary Schedule established by the applicable bargaining unit.

Work with kindergarten though fifth grade students in classroom or resource room.

Work with kindergarten through fifth grade students in Media Center or Computer Lab if needed.

Willing to accompany students to a special interest class (example:  PE, Art, Music).

Ability to work with student in an individual and small group setting.

Reinforce instruction of student and work with/create instructional materials under teacher supervision.

Develop and use strategies to assist student's focus/time on task.

Exhibit positive interpersonal skills with students, staff, and parents.

Ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Be able and willing to take direction/suggestions from certified staff member(s).

Supervise arrival and dismissal activities for buses when necessary.

Supervise lunch and recess of all grade levels when necessary.

Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Personal qualities need to include ability to nurture, good attendance, patience, dependability and the ability to accept responsibility and initiate activities with student with diverse learning styles.

Physical Requirements of Position:  (HBV   Yes   No)

·   Be able to move quickly

·   Must be physically able to lift and move up to 50 lbs..

Ability to work with a diverse student population

Background working with Kindergarten children at least 6 months

Must Meet Title 1 Requirements: Must have High Schol Diploma, AND twl years of study in post-secondary institution OR obtained an associate or higher degree OR successfully complete the following scores on the Compass Tes: Reading-80, Writing-70 and Math-43, OR successfully completed the Iowa Paraprofessional classes and obtained the Iowa Paraprofessional Certificaiton.
