ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
·
Maintain
confidentiality in the performance of all assigned duties.
·
Provide assistance and
adapt instructional strategies for special needs students
included in the regular education program.
·
Monitor student
behavior and respond appropriately.
·
Maintain regular
communication with classroom teacher and/or parents.
·
Provide support for
student(s) to negotiate everyday activities successfully such as
taking restroom breaks, boarding the school bus, eating lunch,
and participating in recess.
·
Assist student(s) in
performing physical functions, such as taking medication,
maintaining personal hygiene, participating in field trips,
etc.
·
Assist teacher with
whole class instruction.
·
Maintain communication
with inclusion facilitator.
·
Attend team meetings,
when appropriate.
·
Assist students in
meeting Individualized Education Plan goals.
·
Implement adaptations
for the student's safety and mobility.
·
Supervise students
during classroom instruction as well as throughout the building
during the school day.
·
Perform other
appropriate duties as may be assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
·
State and NCLB
Paraprofessional approval letter from the Illinois State Board of
Education.
·
Exhibit understanding,
patience, emotional stability, and a positive attitude for
working with children.
·
Ability to apply
common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved
written or oral instructions.
·
Ability to develop
effective working relationship with students, staff and the
school community.

Regularly lift 40 lbs. and or push/pull up to 100 pounds.
