ROLE AND PURPOSE:
Plan, implement, and evaluate
the campus program for students in at-risk situations.
Collaborate with campus staff, parents and outside
personnel as needed to provide educational opportunities
for students in at-risk situations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
Certification/Education:
Bachelor's degree from
accredited university
Valid Texas teaching
certificate, special education certification
preferred
Texas administration
certification preferred
Special
Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of counseling
procedures, student appraisal, and career
development.
Excellent organizational,
communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to instruct students
and manage their behavior.
Thorough understanding of
Response to Intervention processes.
Minimum Experience:
At least one semester of
student teaching or one year of approved internship
Three years of experience as a
classroom teacher preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND
DUTIES:
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
1.
Implements procedures to identify and
monitor at-risk students, as well as students in the
intervention process including review of student data and
the development of appropriate intervention
activities.
2.
Consults with parents, administrators,
counselors, teachers, community agencies, and other
relevant individuals regarding students in at-risk
situations.
3.
Develops and coordinates continuing
evaluation of the at-risk program and implements changes
based on the findings.
4.
Assumes responsibility for compiling,
maintaining and filing all reports, records, and other
documents required.
5.
Monitors the implementation of effective
academic and behavioral intervention and accommodation
practices.
6.
Facilitates all 504 meetings and monitors
progress of all 504 students.
8.
Distributes all 504 IAP's and works with
teachers to ensure compliance.
9.
Assists campus administration in
implementation of STAAR/TAKS and ensures accommodations for
504 students.
