Licensed Athletic Trainer

QUALIFICATIONS:
A.
Valid Idaho Athletic Trainer License
B.
Ability to work with students, staff, parents,
and the public.
C.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications
as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
III.
REPORTS TO:
Building Administrator.
IV.
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District
91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and
contribute to maximizing student achievement.
To help students learn subject matter
and/or skills that will contribute to their development as
mature, able, and responsible individuals.
V.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ATHLETIC
TRAINER:
A.
Evaluates and supervises the treatment and rehabilitation for
all minor athletic injuries and conditions.
B.
Refers athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosis and
treatment.
C.
Develops and supervises appropriate rehabilitation programs for
athletes under the direction of a physician.
D.
Determines if a player is able to continue participation in a
game and/or practice if the player is injured, as directed by a
physician.
E.
Reports injuries to coaches, parents, and athletic office and
developing an annual report of athletic injuries.
F.
Is responsible for the safe operation, inventory, and
requisition of all training room supplies and equipment.
Submits requests for supplies to the athletic director.
Additionally, submits an annual budget for all first aid and
medical supply needs for the year.
G.
Provides basic instruction to athletic staff members in the
prevention and care of injuries.
H.
Assists and advises the coaching staff regarding injury
prevention and conditioning programs.
I.
Trains and supervises sports medicine students during practices
and athletic events.
J.
Develops and implements a communication protocol for coaches,
players, parents and athletic trainers.
K.
Provides coverage to
all
home varsity football, wrestling, girls' basketball, and boys'
basketball games and practices for the school to which he/she
is assigned. If there is a conflict between events, the
athletic trainer will attend the event deemed most necessary to
attend by the athletic trainer and administration. During
regularly scheduled school breaks, the athletic trainer will be
on call in the case of an emergency.
L.
Maintains Healthcare Provider Certification or equivalent.
M.
Has regular and predictable attendance.
N.
Performs other duties as assigned.
VII.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a part-time position with variable hours during the
sports seasons with a total of approximately 800 hours
throughout the school year. The rate for this position is
$20 per hour.
VIII.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be
evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in
accordance with provisions of the negotiated master agreement
and board policy.
