Job Description:
Function of Job
Under the general supervision of the Superintendent or his designee and the Director of Food Services, the immediate supervision of the Cafeteria Manager, and the Principal to provide hot lunches that meet or exceed State and Federal standards, adhere to rigid sanitary standards, in cooperation with the Cafeteria Manager and other such duties as may be assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide hot lunches that meets or exceeds State and Federal standards for
all students who participate in the lunch program.
2. Adhere to rigid sanitary standards.
3. Serve the daily menu as prescribed by the Cafeteria Manager and the
Director of Food Services.
4. Assist in all areas of operation in food preparer's absence with the
Cafeteria Manager and other food service personnel with the daily kitchen
routine.
5. Check all equipment daily in assigned area(s) to assure it is in working
condition and report equipment in need of repair or replacement to the
Cafeteria Manager.
6. Assist in the training of substitute food server personnel as instructed by
the Cafeteria Manager.
7. Adhere to proportion standards when serving food items.
8. Refer student problems to appropriate school personnel.
9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Food
Services, the Cafeteria Manager, Superintendent or his designee.
Supervision Received and Given
Oral and written instructions are received from supervisory personnel. Employees in this classification are supervised by the Cafeteria Manager, Director of Food Services, Superintendent or his designee.
Qualifications and General Responsibilities
A. Be in good physical condition and physically and mentally capable of
performing the required work.
B. Have the ability to communicate, work cooperatively with others, get along
well with students, parents, citizens and other school personnel.
C. Have the ability to use discretion in dealing with the public and to project a
positive image of the local schools.
D. Be safety conscious at all times.
E. Possess the willingness to work, display initiative, assume responsibility,
and take pride in work.
F. Be of high moral character, dependable, industrious, exercise good
judgment and refrain from using objectionable language.
G. Possess a positive attitude toward learning and following directions while
on the job.
H. Maintain a personal appearance that is commensurate with the job to be
performed.
I. Have a belief in public education and a concern for the future and welfare
of youngsters.
J. Protect school property insofar as possible, from damage and loss through
fire, theft, vandalism and deterioration.
K. Observe the policies and practices of the local schools.
