Primary Purpose:
Cross students safely as they go and come from school.
Qualifications (Experience/ Education/Certification):
Completion of sufficient education or training to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions.
Major Responsibilities:
§ Direct and control student traffic, pedestrians or bicycles at designated school-crossing areas.
§ Report incidences of unsafe or reckless driving to building administrator.
§ Use and maintain designated crossing guard equipment provided by the transportation department; wear appropriate attire for weather conditions such as raincoat, gloves, etc.
§ Conserve electricity as outlined in the districts energy management plan
Special Knowledge/Skills:
§ Knowledge of traffic regulations.
§ Knowledge of district rules and practices.
§ Skill in effectively communicating with students.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands):
Repetitive hand motions; must be able to push, pull, lift, and/or carry at least 20 lbs; exposure daily to possible adverse weather elements for extended periods of time.
