TITLE:
Child Care Center Paraprofessional.
II.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A.
A degree, certification and/or training in
infant, toddler, preschool and/or early childhood
education.
B.
Current certification in CPR (infant, child,
and adult) and first aid.
C.
Have or obtain within 30 days, an Individual
Daycare Worker's License.
D.
High level of ethical behavior and ability
to maintain confidentiality of information.
E.
Possess and have demonstrated supervisory
skills in working with crisis situations.
F.
Know the meaning of and demonstrate a
nurturing disposition.
G.
Possess emotional maturity and stability and
be able to relate to the special needs of children, teenagers
and adults.
H.
Physically able to perform the duties
normally associated with child care work, which may include
heavy lifting.
I.
Ability to work with staff, children, and
students.
J.
High level of ethical behavior and ability
to maintain confidentiality of information.
K.
Such alternatives to the above
qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and
acceptable.

Building Administrator.
IV.
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91's written,
taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to
maximizing student achievement.
To provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment
where self-concepts are enhanced, independence is encouraged
and individuality is respected.
V.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
A.
Maintains high standards of ethical behavior
and appropriate confidentiality in regards to children,
parents, and all student teachers and other staff
members.
B.
Follows the set curriculum to meet the
physical, social, emotional, intellectual, language and
adaptive needs of both the individual child and the
group.
C.
Interacts with the children and encourages
their involvement in activities.
D.
Provides a warm and safe environment that is
orderly, clean and appealing to young children and
permits each child to grow and explore.
E.
Maintains all records and files accurately and in a timely
manner as requested by the Director.
F.
Follows the behavior management policy in
the classroom. Helps students, parents and/or volunteers so
that the behavior management policy is consistent and
appropriate at all times.
G.
Demonstrates high health standards and
practices.
H.
Identifies, documents, and reports any
significant abnormal behavior or health problems.
Discusses these problems with the Director.
I.
Establishes and maintains good communication
with parents through parent conferences when desired and on a
daily basis.
J.
Maintains all classroom areas in a neat and
organized manner.
K.
Supports all students, parents and/or
volunteers, helping them with basic childcare rules,
regulations and methods.
L.
Knows and follows federal, state and city
laws and regulations concerning childcare.
M.
Attends all required meetings, inservice,
trainings, workshops, and the National Organization of the
Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Conference.
N.
Completes a minimum of 20 hours of
required training each year.
O.
Has regular and predictable
attendance.
VI.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A.
Performs all other duties as
assigned.
VII.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a part-time position scheduled for 3.90 hours
per day during the school year. Wages will be in
accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 3 -
$10.05 or $10.56 per hour depending on experience.
This is an "at
will' position in that the employer or employee may
terminate employment at any time or for any reason
consistent with applicable state or federal law.
The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally
or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized
in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees
of District 91.
VIII.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will
be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in
accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the
evaluation of classified personnel.
This position has been given an overall
physical classification of medium duty.
