QUALIFICATIONS
·
Associates
Degree or higher in Library Sciences or related field,
required.
·
Work
experience in educational or public library system.
·
Demonstrated
ability to manage complex tasks on an ongoing basis.
·
Demonstrated
ability to communicate effectively, be a cooperative team
member and enjoy working with both school staff and
students.
·
Demonstrated
ability to maintain, troubleshoot and operate office equipment,
AV equipment and computers.
·
Must pass the
secretarial skills tests (typing, mathematics and proofreading)
administered by the Human Resources Department.
SUMMARY
The Media Center Aide provides support for
student and faculty in a helpful, positive, congenial, and
flexible manner.
This position is expected to perform a variety of secretarial
tasks plus varied office and technical duties.
The Media Center Aide is responsible for maintaining a pleasant
atmosphere conducive to the enjoyment of reading and research
and the physical appearance of the media center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES

Works at the
circulation desk, including materials circulation
management.
·
Assists media
specialists in the coordination of parent and student
volunteers.
·
Assists
students and faculty in the operation of equipment, including
computers, digital projectors, overhead projectors, copy
machines, etc.
·
Troubleshoots
basic equipment problems, such as laminators, copiers, etc, as
directed by the media specialist.
·
Prepares
material, including equipment, for distribution to
classrooms.
·
Cleans and
repairs materials as needed.
·
Directs staff
to access district information technology support
services.
·
Maintains the
physical appearance of the library.
·
Demonstrates a
positive attitude for public relations by supporting
established programs and working cooperatively with
others.
·
Performs the
daily routine of the media center (circulation, materials
management, scheduling, phone, mail, messages).
·
Performs
record keeping and scheduling tasks.
·
Inventories
library collections (Destiny System).
·
Maintains and
orders an inventory of library supplies and materials as well
as entering the data for ordered materials, as directed by
media specialist.
·
All other
duties as assigned.
