QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires knowledge of standard athletic equipment,
supplies, and materials used in competitive sports; proper
methods of cleaning and storing athletic equipment; first aid
methods, techniques, and standards; safety standards as applied
to the operation and conditioning of athletic equipment.
Must possess the skill to maintain and make repairs to athletic
clothing and equipment; learn to tape athletes and perform first
aid; learn to operate standard athletic equipment including
whirlpools.
Establish and maintain appropriate records and files including
inventory records; perform arithmetical calculations accurately;
communicate effectively both in oral and written forms; establish
and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in
the performance of required duties.
One year of experience
in work connected with a sports program or in handling athletic
equipment.
Possession of or skill to obtain a valid First Aid Certificate
issued by the American Red Cross.
This position requires the ability to receive,
store, and inventory athletic equipment and supplies for
competitive athletic/sports programs; issue and inspect
athletic equipment for proper operation and compliance to
established safety standards; issue lockers, clothing,
protective pads, shoes, balls, bats, rackets, and other game
equipment; stencil and mark equipment for inventory purposes;
maintain and account for all athletic equipment and supplies,
establish appropriate inventory records and files as
needed; inspect clothing, uniforms, and equipment for
needed repairs; make minor repairs and patches
clothing/equipment and arrange for major repairs, arrange for
minor repairs with outside reconditioners; clean and sanitize
athletic clothing, uniforms, etc.; assist in monitoring
locker room facilities; maintain record of lockers and
equipment issued to students; attend athletic events/programs
and serve as athletic trainer; administer first aid for minor
athletic injuries and refer major injuries to team physician;
tape athletes for sporting events to prevent or protect
injuries; confer with team physician regarding initial,
rehabilitative, or exercise treatment of athletic injuries
and follow prescribed instructions; transport injured
athletes to medical facilities as needed; gather, load, and
assure that proper athletic equipment and first aid supplies
are present at athletic and other events; will perform
custodial duties in the clean-up and maintenance of the
gymnasium;
assist in the maintenance of P.E. equipment as
needed; maintenance of school vans; confer with Athletic
Director regarding equipment needs, purchases, etc.; perform
related duties as required.
A PRE-EMPLOYMENT
MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE
REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL
CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
MUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN A VALID CLASS "C" CALIFORNIA DRIVER'S
LICENSE.
DUTIES OF POSITION:
To receive, issue, maintain, store, and inventory athletic
equipment and supplies used in competitive athletic/sports
programs; to function as athletic trainer to athletes, providing
first aid and emergency care as assigned; and to perform some
custodial duties in the gymnasium area as assigned.
Employees in this class receive general supervision from a school
site administrator or his/her designate within a framework of
standard policies and procedures.
This job class exercises responsibility for ensuring the proper
safety and accounting of athletic/sports equipment and for
providing treatment of minor athletic injuries requiring the
application of standard first aid procedures, techniques, and
injury prevention methods.
STARTING SALARY:
$2,514.91 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS:
12 (to begin as soon as possible)
NUMBER OF HOURS:
8 (daily working hours 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.)
