Part-Time Position (.5333 FTE)

 

Position Summary:  Assists students and teachers at a school site library by staffing the circulation desk and maintaining resources of the library. 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
 
Knowledge of:

  • Modern library technique and equipment.
  • Modern office equipment including personal computers and related software.
  • Media processing and cataloging.
  • Record keeping and report production.
  • Library research techniques.
Ability to:
  • Inventory a variety of media materials.
  • Operate a library circulation desk.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Operate modern library equipment.
  • Operate modern office equipment including a personal computer and related software.
  • Maintain security and discipline.
  • Assist students and staff with library research projects.
  • Assist students with use of a personal computer.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way to obtain these would be: 
  • High school diploma
  • Two years of clerical experience preferably in a library or school site setting.

Compensation:  This is a permanent,  part time position, working 20 hours per week with a pay rate of $17.01 per hour plus benefits including medical, dental, and vision, the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), and paid time off.     
 

Selected hire will be fingerprinted at applicant’s expense and fingerprints forwarded to the Alaska State Troopers and the FBI for a records check.
