Description:
The Pre-Kindergarten Aide will perform a wide variety of clerical, housekeeping, and instruction-related functions for Instructor and students; may work directly with students under supervision of the classroom instructor; may be designated to assist identified pupils in the provision of specialized physical health care services; may be designated to assist identified pupils with personal requirements including eating and bathroom needs; and perform a variety of duties both outside and inside the classroom. Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment within a limited number of standardized procedures in working with children in the classroom.
Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent. Must have knowledge of typing, spelling and English. Must receive satisfactory score on the Instructional Aide proficiency test given by Bakersfield Adult School or have graduated from a California public high school after January 1981. Have a minimum of 48 units of college courses or an AA Degree or have passed the CODESP Test given at the District is required. ECE units desirable but not required. The ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with children and adults.
The CODESP screening test will be given Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in the District Training Center. Contact the Personnel Department to reserve a space if you need this test to meed NCLB requirements. Please be prompt.
Salary and Terms of Service:
Salary range (10) $10.29 to $13.72 per hour, 8 steps, 3.75 hours per day, 5 days per week. Holidays, sick leave, and vacation benefits.

Selection Procedure:
Selected applicants will be scheduled for interviews by the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District Office. If after interviews suitable applicants are not found, the search will continue. As required by California State Law should you be employed by the district, your fingerprints will be taken and submitted to the Justice Department and the FBI for a background check. Processing fee will be at applicant's expense.
