Position: Special Education Paraprofessional
Position Guide: Non – Certified Personnel Bargaining Unit Position F/T - 9 Months 6 hours Salary Range - $13.57 to $15.32 hour Based on college hours, Degree or Degree with Teaching Certificate Function: Paraprofessional position with in the general education classrooms. Needs to be able to take directions from the Special Education Teacher as well as General Education Teacher, work with students in small group settings, individually, and support behavior management plans. Qualifications: College Degree or minimum of 60 semester hours of college credit No Child Left Behind and State Paraprofessional Letter of Approval and / or Valid IL. Teaching Certificate Demonstrated concern for child’s well being Willingness to accept instruction Performance Responsibilities: Classroom paraprofessionals, paraprofessionals and one-to-one paraprofessionals may function in a variety of roles: those which are instructionally-based, those which are physically-management based and those which are medically-based. Job responsibilities may shift among these roles dependent upon the needs of the student/s. Is responsible for instructionally-based activities: Is responsible for one or more students with specific medical needs: Is responsible for monitoring a student's behavior under the direction of the supervising teacher: Is responsible for assisting special education students within the general education Classroom: Perform other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the School Principal or his / her designee.
