LOCATION:  Mayo High School
WORK DAY/YEAR: 8 hours per day; approx. 5:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
CLASSIFICATION: A-1-3;
SALARY: $12.89 per hour 

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of tasks in the preparation of the breakfast/noon meal by doing various tasks such as preparing the main dish for the daily meal for the school and paying attention to menus, portion guidelines and the lunch count.  Prepares standard amounts and increases as needed.  Keeps inventory on items used.  Assist Head Cook in inspecting work areas to make sure equipment is off.  Checks equipment to make sure it is operating correctly and calls custodian or notifies Head Cook or Food Service Manager if a repair person needs to be called.  Assist in checking in of deliveries, putting deliveries away and may assist in maintaining the inventory and must be able to run the food service computer program.  Responsible for the daily operations of  the kitchen in the absence of the head cook. 

Performs all duties within the level of responsibility of position as assigned by the supervisor. 
 
Qualifications: *Experience in a public school kitchen and/or background in related food service operations. *Knowledge of government guidelines and procedures concerning sanitation and safety. *Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. *Must have completed or be willing to enroll and complete the Sanitation and Safety and the School Nutrition Programs courses for Minnesota School Food Services Certification. *Computer skills and experience or willing to learn. *Regular, on-time attendance is required. *Stooping, bending, occasional awkward positions may be necessary to perform essential functions of the position. Must be able to lift 31-50 lbs.
