Alternative Certification
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree from an accredited university; Mid-Management, Supervisory, or Principal Certification preferred
  • Five years of classroom teaching experience in secondary Science; five years of experience developing and delivering training to adult learners required
  • Ability to conduct staff development sessions
  • Ability to provide supervision for an assigned number of interns
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse community, district staff members and the public at large
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Professional
  • Competence in maintaining precise records
  • Competence in developing and monitoring online courses using Blackboard
  • Ability to communicate and manage the certification process of interns
  • Ability to utilize personal computers and access mainframe programs or the ability to acquire such skills

 

BASIC FUNCTIONS

  • Recruit, interview, select and train professionals to teach in selected programs
  • Design and implement supplemental selection process
  • Design, deliver and evaluate training for assigned interns
  • Provide ongoing training and administrative support to assigned interns
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district policy and Texas Administrative Code
  • Maintain accurate records for interns, mentors and principals in accordance to Texas Administrative Code
  • Assist principals with the identification and placement of interns in teaching positions
  • Interface with administrators and mentors to ensure priority services to schools
  • Assist and coordinate the collection of data and preparation of reports for TEA
  • Assist the director in collecting and disseminating information to enhance the department's responsiveness in meeting district needs and programming goals
  • Develop operational plans needed to implement departmental projects
  • Assist in setting long-range, intermediate and short-term goals for the Alternative Certification Department
  • Provide services and expertise beyond traditional work hour as required by the demands of the situation
  • Engage in on-going professional development to maintain skills and expertise within Alternative Certification
  • Keep abreast of technical and professional trends and developments affecting Alternative Certification programs, and disseminate information to appropriate district personnel
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned

 

$21.76 per hour

                    

Selected individuals for Dallas Independent School District positions will be placed according to compensation guidelines.   A campus-based employee may not assume a new position for which he/she was selected based upon the posting process until the end of the current semester, unless approved by the executive director - Human Capital Management.
